Quiet Riot: '89 Live In Japan (DVD, 2004)

Taking the heavy metal world by storm in the early 1980s with their stadium-rock anthem "Cum on Feel the Noize," Quiet Riot's career mirrored that old adage epitomized by rock and roll: "live fast and die young." Rising quickly to heights of stardom that shocked both the public and the band themselves, their trajectory was fraught with obstacles that prevented them from assuming iconic status in rock history. Frontman Kevin DuBrow, who supremely embodied the rock star bad attitude with his loud mouth and quick temper, had difficulty dealing with success, and even more difficulty dealing with the failure experienced by their debut album's successor, CRITICAL CONDITION. Aptly named, it was a rushed attempt to capitalize on the group's current popularity, and marked the beginning of Dubrow's seemingly systematic burning of bridges the band had struggled to build, constantly insulting press, record label, fans and other bands alike. The concert documented here was held in Japan in 1989, and marks a critical point in the tragic and important history of one of the most influential metal bands of the 80s. The song list includes: "Party All Night," "I'm Falling," "Stay With Me Tonight," "Run To You," "The Wild And The Young," "The Joker," "Drum Solo," "Coppin' A Feel," "King Of The Hill," and "Cum On Feel The Noise."
