The LX series of V8 Holden Toranas was given a supercharge in the late 1970s, with the introduction of the A9X option.

Added to the slender two-door coupe was a rear-facing bonnet scoop to increase airflow and engine power, as well as rear disc brakes and heavy-duty axels.
The 1979 Holden LX Torana A9X proved its muscle-car credentials - winning the 1979 Bathurst race by a record six laps and setting the touring-car lap record on the last lap of the race.
